Terms

The honest ground rules

How the practice works, what we promise, and what we can't. Plain language, no fine print designed to trip you up.

This isn't a contract built to protect us from you. It's a clear statement of what we offer, what it costs, and what we ask of each other.

Who we are

This Is Me is a therapy practice operated by [This Is Me Therapy Inc.] ("This Is Me", "we", "us"). These terms govern your use of our website and portals and the care you receive through the practice. By booking a placement call, creating an account, or using the platform, you agree to them.

We are not a crisis service

This Is Me does not provide emergency or crisis care, and sessions are not monitored in real time. If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself or someone else, call 911, go to your nearest emergency department, or call or text 988, Canada's Suicide Crisis Helpline, available 24/7. If it's an emergency, reach out to those services first — not the platform.

Who can use the service

You must be the age of majority in your province or territory (or have appropriate consent) and be physically located in a part of Canada we serve when you attend sessions. Our practitioners are licensed by their provincial regulatory college and can generally only provide care to clients located in the province where they're registered — so where you are matters, and we confirm it as part of matching.

What we offer

Therapy with independent, regulated practitioners, paired with a structured care path and between-session support. After a free placement call, we match you to a practitioner whose approach fits the work you're trying to do, co-author a path with you, and revisit it together roughly every ten sessions. Sessions are typically held by secure video and run about 60 minutes.

The care relationship

Your practitioner is an independent regulated health professional and is solely responsible for their clinical judgment, advice, and care. This Is Me coordinates matching, scheduling, and support, but does not direct or override clinical decisions. Care is provided within each practitioner's scope of practice; if your needs fall outside what they or the practice can responsibly offer, we'll tell you and help point you somewhere that fits.

Your account

Keep your information accurate and your login details private. You're responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed it. Don't share your account or use someone else's.

The placement call & matching

The placement call is free and carries no obligation. We use it to understand what you're carrying and to match you well — not to sell you the practice. If we don't have the right person for you, we'll say so. If your first match isn't the right fit, tell us: we'll re-match you at no additional cost within your early sessions.

Fees & billing

Session fees and any plan pricing are shown clearly before you commit, and are charged in Canadian dollars through our payment processor. Applicable taxes, where they apply, are shown at checkout. By registering for a plan or booking paid sessions, you authorize us to charge the payment method you provide.

Cancellations & rescheduling

Life happens — you can cancel or reschedule a session with at least 24 hours' notice at no charge. Cancellations or no-shows inside 24 hours are charged in full, because that time was held for you and can't be offered to anyone else.

Refunds

If a session is materially affected by something on our end — a technical failure on our side, or a practitioner no-show — we'll reschedule it or refund it. Sessions you attended aren't refundable; therapy isn't a transaction we can undo. Plan fees already used toward sessions are non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise.

Insurance receipts

Where you've asked for one, we provide receipts showing your practitioner's name, profession, and college registration details so you can submit them to your insurer or use them at tax time. Whether your sessions are covered depends on your specific plan and your practitioner's profession — confirming your coverage and submitting your own claims is your responsibility. We're glad to help with the paperwork, but we can't guarantee reimbursement.

Changing your practitioner

You can request a different practitioner at any time from your dashboard. We'll review it with care and, where a change makes sense, manage the transition so your path carries over. A change confirmed after your early sessions is treated as a considered transition rather than an instant switch, so the handover is done well.

Between-session support

Your practitioner may send small, specific prompts between sessions, and you can share reflections back. These aren't monitored in real time and aren't a channel for urgent or crisis needs — for those, use the emergency services noted above.

Using the platform well

  • Don't record sessions without your practitioner's consent.
  • Don't misuse, probe, or interfere with the portals, or try to access information that isn't yours.
  • Treat your practitioner and our team with the same care we extend to you.
  • Use the service for its intended purpose — your own care — and not for anything unlawful.

Confidentiality

What you share in therapy stays between you and your practitioner, with only the narrow, legally-required exceptions set out in our Privacy Policy. Please read it — it's part of these terms.

Technology & third-party services

Sessions, payments, and scheduling rely on third-party services (for video, payment processing, and calendars). You'll need a reasonably current device and a stable internet connection. We're not responsible for outages, failures, or losses caused by third-party services or by your own equipment or connection, though we'll always work to make it right where we reasonably can.

What belongs to whom

The platform, its design, and its content are owned by This Is Me and may not be copied or reused without permission. Your personal and clinical records belong to you and are held by your practitioner as their custodian, as described in our Privacy Policy.

What we can and can't promise

We promise honest matching, careful work, and practitioners who show up prepared. We can't promise a particular outcome — therapy is a human process, not a guaranteed result, and progress depends on many things including your own engagement. The platform is provided on a reasonable-efforts, "as available" basis.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, This Is Me is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the platform. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under the law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Your practitioner remains professionally accountable for the care they provide.

Concerns & disputes

If something isn't right, tell us first — most things are best resolved by a real conversation, and we take concerns seriously. You also always have the right to raise a concern about a practitioner with their regulatory college. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of [Ontario], Canada, and any dispute will be dealt with there.

Changes to these terms

If we change anything material, we'll email you before it takes effect. You can always read the current version here.
